LeadsApp
vs Smith.ai
Smith.ai answers your phone. LeadsApp answers your inbox. That one sentence is most of the decision — and if your new business arrives as a ringing phone, Smith.ai is the better buy.
Businesses whose front door is the telephone. It puts an AI receptionist or a live human on your line 24/7 to answer, qualify and route callers, and it leans hard into legal and home-services intake. If a missed call is a missed client for you, that is the problem it was built for.
Small professional-service firms — agencies, consultants, law firms, realtors, coaches — whose leads arrive as a contact-form fill or an email. It replies in under 60 seconds in your voice, asks your qualifying questions, scores the lead 0-100, sends your booking link to the serious ones, and keeps following up.
It's a channel difference, not a feature fight
Almost every row in the table below traces back to one thing: Smith.ai works the phone line, LeadsApp works the inbox. A receptionist can't answer the form-fill that lands at 11pm with three paragraphs of detail, and LeadsApp will never pick up your phone. Most firms get both kinds of inquiry, which is why plenty of people run one of each rather than picking a winner. Published benchmarks put the median first response to a new inquiry at 42 hours, with 63% of companies taking longer than an hour — and replying inside five minutes converting roughly nine times better. Whichever product you buy, the point is to close that gap on the channel your leads actually use.

| Smith.ai | LeadsApp | |
|---|---|---|
| What it works on | Phone calls. The homepage is built around answering, qualifying and converting every call, 24/7.[3] | Inbound email and web-form inquiries — the ones that arrive while you're on a job, or at 11pm. |
| Who does the talking | An AI receptionist, live agents, or both. The pricing page lets you choose an AI-first or human-first setup at the same plan prices.[1] | AI writes the draft; you approve it. Review-before-send is the default on every account. |
| Free tier | A $0/mo AI plan listed at 25 calls a month, then $3.00/call. The live-staffed pricing page lists no free trial — it offers a 30-day money-back guarantee instead, capped at $1,000.[1][2] | $0/mo, up to 25 leads a month, no card. Not a countdown trial — it stays free at that volume. |
| Paid plans | AI receptionist: $150/mo (about 2-3 calls a day, $2.00/call) and $500/mo (about 10 calls a day, $1.67/call). Live-staffed: $300/mo for 30 calls, $810/mo for 90, $2,100/mo for 300, plus a custom Enterprise tier.[1][2] | $149/mo for 250 leads, $299/mo for 1,000, and $499/mo for unlimited. Same product on every tier — only the volume changes. |
| What a unit is | A call. Overage on the live-staffed plans runs $11.50, $10.50 and $8.50 per call depending on tier; SMS and email follow-ups are listed as $0.50 per-call add-ons.[1] | A lead — one person and the whole conversation, however many replies and follow-ups it takes. No per-message charge. |
| Setup fee | None. The pricing page says "No setup fees" and "No hidden fees".[1] | None. |
| Commitment | Month-to-month with no long-term contracts; billing runs to the end of the current cycle if you cancel.[1] | Month-to-month, cancel from your dashboard. |
| Multi-day follow-up on a lead who goes quiet | Not described on the pages we read. Their pricing pages are organised around handling calls as they come in.[1][2][3] | Built in. Nudges on day 1, 3 and 7, each written for where the conversation actually stalled — and it stops the moment they reply, book, or opt out. |
| You approve messages before they go out | Not offered in the same sense — agents and the AI receptionist speak to callers live, so there is nothing to approve first.[3] | The default. Every draft waits in your queue with the lead's score and the reasoning behind it. Auto-send is something you switch on later, if you want it. |

A note on reading their pricing
Smith.ai publishes two different price structures on two different pages, and it's worth knowing before you compare anything. Their AI receptionist page lists self-serve AI plans at $0, $150 and $500 a month. Their main pricing page lists Starter, Basic, Pro and Enterprise at $300, $810, $2,100 and custom — and says you pick AI-first or human-first at those same plan prices. We've quoted both above with a source on each row rather than trying to reconcile them into one number, because which one applies to you is a question only their sales team can answer. That's worth a direct question on your first call.
Buy Smith.ai if…
- Most of your new business starts with a phone call, and calls go unanswered today.
- You want a human voice on the line — a real receptionist your callers can talk to.
- You need after-hours or overflow call coverage, including live transfers.
- Your intake genuinely happens on the call: qualifying, scheduling and handoff all in one conversation.
Buy LeadsApp if…
- Your leads come in through a contact form, a landing page, or straight to your inbox.
- You already reply — just hours or days later, once the lead has moved on.
- You want to read and approve what goes out in your name before it sends.
- You want somebody chasing the quiet ones on day 3 and day 7 without you remembering to.
- You want to try it on real leads for $0 before deciding anything.
What LeadsApp does not do
Worth knowing before you switch anything off. If one of these is the job you need done, buy the product that does it.
- No phone answering. We never pick up a call — not a live agent, not an AI voice. If your phone rings and nobody answers, LeadsApp does not help with that.
- No SMS or text messages. Email and web-form inquiries only.
- No cold outreach, ever. LeadsApp replies to people who contacted you first. It will not email a purchased list, and we don't sell one.
- No live humans on your account. Every reply is written by AI and, by default, waits for you to approve it.
- No calendar management. We put your booking link in front of the serious leads — we don't read your availability, move appointments, or run your diary.
Can you run both?
Yes, and for a lot of firms that's the honest answer. A receptionist service covers the phone; LeadsApp covers the form and the inbox. They don't overlap, they don't fight over the same lead, and neither one needs the other switched off. Start LeadsApp free, keep whatever is answering your phone, and see which channel is actually leaking work.
